Senior-Level Machinist

This position must also be able to perform the following essential job functions/job duties on a consistent basis, within the estimated run times, with a minimum quantity of errors:

  • Build tools and load them in the machine while accurately touching them off.
  • Read and write basic G&M code programming, including cutter compensation.
  • Maintain quality when tool wear affects part quality, and understand the process of adjustment to maintain quality.
  • Communicate effectively with the CAD/CAM programmer on how to process work to eliminate set-up mistakes.
  • Edit job program in regards to speeds and feeds to improve job processing.
  • Use Renishaw probing system to establish Datum points for work offsets.
  • Machine long running jobs with minimum supervision.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding blue prints including geometric tolerance.
  • Proficient in uploading and downloading programs from a thumb drive and able to call up different programs in the internal memory of the machine tool.
  • Work with quality department to verify quality of the parts following set-ups.
  • Maintain quality for jobs that have been set-up for production.
  • With assistance/guidance, set-up and proof jobs on the Haas Vertical/Horizontal milling machines.
  • Set up, program, and edit “B” axis and utilize 4th axis rotary tables.
  • Set up and proof jobs on the Haas Horizontal/Vertical Mill machines without needing any direction from lead or supervisor.
  • Convey ideas and suggestion for the betterment of set-up efficiency.
  • Design/Build specialized tooling and work holding fixtures as required.
  • Read and write advance G&M code programming, including cutter compensation and all canned cycles.
  • Be proficient in expressing ideas to the CAD/CAM programmer in order to process work efficiently.
  • Must work independently and able to instruct and train entry-level machine operators.
  • Obtain pictures of new or improved set-ups and load finished programs on USB for E2 set-up library.
  • Assist Sales Team or Estimator with estimated run times and tooling requirements during the quoting process when needed.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED, required.

Experience:

  • Must meet or exceed all the requirements of mid-level Mill Machine Operator.
  • Experience with reading and writing advance G&M code programming.

Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Able to read and write English
  • Must own tools that are needed to set-up any CNC Machine on the shop floor: tape measure, set of Allen wrenches, end wrenches, dial indicator, 6” or 12” scale.
  • Must own inspection tools in order to properly check machined parts: dial calipers 8” or 12”, depth micrometers 0-6”, OD micrometers 0-4”.
  • Must be proficient in reading and understanding blueprints including geometric tolerance.
  • Must be able to read and write G&M code programming, including cutter compensation and all canned cycles.

Working Conditions

  • Working Environment: Manufacturing, dusty, Moderate noise level
  • Physical Demands: Sitting/Standing for extended periods of time, able to lift up to 40lbs. consistently, with the occasional 70lbs.
  • Required PPE: Safety glasses, steel toe shoes
